When I first decided to memorize the Quran, I was overwhelmed by the amount of information available on the best way to become a Hafiz.
Many people often shift between different methods of memorizing the Quran within a short period, eventually giving up altogether.
✅ How it started ➡️ “I want to memorize the Quran.”
❌ How it’s going ➡️ “I’m still looking for the best way to memorize the Quran.”
When I started, I had the same problem. However, I later came across this concept: "The Rule of One" and decided to apply it to my Quran memorization/revision.
The Rule of One: focusing on a single thing to maximize both learning efficiency and effectiveness, while also reducing confusion.
My “Rule of One”
One Quran ➡️ I memorized the Quran using this app: Great Quran
One Sheikh ➡️ I memorized the Quran while listening to Sheikh Hani Alrefai
One Method ➡️ I used this method to memorize the Quran
One Time & Place ➡️ I did my daily Quran memorization/revision in the living room after Fajr prayer.
How to create your “Rule of One” method
Begin with deep research and understanding of various memorization methods.
Choose the elements that best fit your learning style.
Continuously iterate and refine your system over time.
By following these steps, you're not creating "the best method," but rather "the method that fits you the best" through self-experimentation.
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel when creating your “Rule of One” method; instead, draw inspiration from what is already out there. Combine and reinterpret existing ideas to create something new.
